BULLDOG 505 ALFALFA -Dual Purpose Alfalfa - Hay or Graze For Livestock or Wildlife!

One of two new dual purpose alfalfas bred and developed by Dr. Joe Bouton at the University of Georgia, Bulldog 505 should be planted north of Macon, GA. Bulldog 505 has shown excellence in field trials conducted at Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Pennsylvannia. Grazing alfalfa increases body weight and antler size for deer. Alfalfa food plots make a good feeding habitat for wild turkeys and quail. Bulldog 505 has been bred to stand up to aggressive grazing and to tolerate strong treading and trampling. Good disease resistance, drought tolerance and excellent winterhardiness are also characteristics of Bulldog 505. Plant in fall (best time for the Southern US)or spring at the rate of 20# per acre and no deeper than 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Apply 0-20-20 annually at the rate of 500# per acre. Oasis forage chicory is a broad leaved perennial herb that has been bred for improved disease resistance, which significantly increases survival under grazing. BULLDOG RED CLOVER

Bulldog Red Clover was developed at the University of Georgia and has undergone extensive testing at UGA's experiment stations. In grazing trials conducted at the University of Georgia, Bulldog Red Clover had 115% better grazing persistence than Redland III Red Clover and 130% better grazing persistence than Royal Red Clover-two of the top Red Clover Varieties on the Market! Fairly drought tolerant, it tolerates more acidity and poorer soil drainage than alfalfa. In addition, like all clovers, Bulldog Red is nitrogen fixing so it will help build up your soil and reduce your fertilizer bill. Though red clover is a bi-annual(lasts two years)crop, in North Georgia Bulldog Red has been known to last for 3 years. Fertilize with 0-20-20 at the rate of 200lbs per acre.

AUSTRIAN WINTER PEAS

An annual legume often planted for deer and turkey that is closely related to English garden peas, it has good winter hardiness and can be successfully grown in the entire US and parts of Canada. The vines can grow up to 5 feet long and grow throughout the cooler months. Often used as a cover crop, it builds nitrogen in the soil. Since Austrian Winter Peas can be overgrazed and killed out in small plots, we recommended that you plant it with another crop to establish a winter feeding ground. To attract and harvest deer in the fall, make these peas part of your wildlife food plots! Plant in the fall or early spring 30-40lb per acre 1/2 to 1 inch deep.
